Starting Business and the Right Way to Do It

Ever feel like you’re spinning on wheels when starting a business?

You are most certainly not alone. There is a lot that goes into starting a business and Upstart Entrepreneur CEO,  Denis Fourie, wants to share with you just exactly how to do it.

A business mentor, digital marketing guru, and with over 25 years of experience in building seven to eight-figure businesses—  you know secrets are going to be spilled, so buckle up.

Denis Fourie’s Start in Business

Denis has been in the business for more than 27 years since he finished school but he started as young as 12 years old.

He grew up in a family with the principle that if you want something, you need to work for it. Denis however wanted to do things differently and outsource. Denis started a bicycle cart business that sells drinks and snacks. That business evolved to programming providing the need for time-keeping systems.

He failed a lot at the start, not until his first successful business which is a tech company developing apps. This time he had a mentor.

His mentor helped on the development side of the business and they made $3.5 million in the first year. That’s why Denis had this mission to help people how to do it using a practical approach.

Top Things for Starters

Research is the most important thing. You need to understand your market. What is it you want to sell? Is it something that people would want to buy? You need to look at a product that has good margins and is good for mark-ups.

Does your product follow desire? Or does it solve their pain? You need both.

After that, you need passion as a business core to start.

You can train skills but not passion. If you have a passion for business, then it would be easier to follow the process.

You just have to get the passion to persevere and learn through failures.

“ ... I lived on a call with my daughter living on leftovers from a local convenience store ... I had failed... from millions to that level.”

That's how Denis learned to focus on what he wanted. Failing took Denis back to what he did when he first started— a solid base of process. He started building good relationships with all his employees.

It helps in learning every little thing, from employees to customers. If you understand your customers on a personal level and they see and feel that, then it’s a win. It could be something as simple as gratitude, whatever it is that separates your company from being JUST business.

Upstart Entrepreneur

It started when his daughter was 12 and he was mentoring ten kids for seven months about having a business. These kids ages 12-16 including his daughter, made a lot of money within 2 months. And that motivated him to create Upstart. He made it all about focusing on mentorship, and doing digital marketing,

Hating Being Told What to Do

In the town Denis grew up, boys should either work as a miner, or at the power station. He hates being told what to do- so he carved his path and studied accounting.

He learned his way of doing things and not conforming to the norms.

Don’t be scared to break rules. Do what makes you excited to get up in the morning.
